How To Reach Spiti?
Spiti is a beautiful and serene valley, Located in Himachal Pradesh state. When the question How to reach Spiti valley arises, there are two answers. One is via Manali while other stems from Shimla. The difference in KM is just around 20 if you compare Delhi – Manali – Kaza, and Delhi – Shimla – Kaza.
Manali to Spiti: the distance from Manali to Spiti is a little over 200 kilometers (125 miles). It can be covered in eight to 12 hours, depending on whether you go by bus or by jeep, and the condition of the road around Rohtang Pass near Manali.
Shimla to Spiti (via Rekong Peo in Kinnaur) — the distance from Shimla to Spiti is around 420 kilometers (260 miles). It can be covered in about 20 hours by bus or 16 hours by jeep along the Hindustan Tibet Road. The journey is arduous and best broken up by a stop in Rekong Peo.
By Air
The nearest airport to Spiti region is the Kullu Airport at Bhuntar, Kullu. This airport is well-connected to the important cities of the country. Tourists can rent a cab or taxi to reach the destination. The journey is somewhere around 5 hours.
By Train
The nearest railway stations to Spiti valley are Joginder Nagar railway station, and Shimla railway station. To reach the valley, you can rent a taxi from the railway station or can also board a bus going to Spiti.
By Road
Spiti is well-connected by road to the other cities and the adjoining states from May to November. You can board the Himachal Pradesh state transport buses and other private buses from Manali, traveling past the Kunzum La pass, or can rent jeeps and cars to reach Spiti. There is another road that travels north from Shima to Kinnaur district till the Spiti valley.

What is the best time to visit Spiti Valley?
The best time to visit Spiti valley depends on your preference. March to June are the best months to visit, the temperature rarely drops below 15 degree Celsius and the days turn to be hot and pleasant, surging the flow of trekkers and campers.
July to September, the monsoon season welcomes moderate to heavy rainfall resulting in dangerous landslides making Spiti unsafe and too risky a place to visit.
October to February, when Spiti wears the fur of snow to protect itself from the dry chilled freeze of Himalayan winds, with extreme temperatures and inhospitable roads, Spiti is blocked up for most of the time making it least advisable to visit during these months. The minimum drop in temperature is 20 degree Celsius in November which drops further with the progress in winter.
